Our Story: How it all Started
Jesse with a BlueBarrel System built by participants in a Hands-On Installation Workshop in 2013.
BlueBarrel was founded by Jesse Froehlich Savou, northern California native who believes everyone should have the ability to harvest rainwater.
In 2010, as part of an AmeriCorps assignment with Conservation Corps North Bay, Jesse was tasked with building a 1,500-gallon system on a tight budget. With creativity and perseverance, she designed a system using repurposed barrels—a design that proved both functional and scalable.
After refining the model in her own home installations, Jesse earned her professional rainwater harvesting accreditation from ARCSA and launched BlueBarrel in 2012. What started as a grassroots project is now a nationwide offering for sustainable water management, sustainability, and self-reliance.
